The Virginia Department of Transportation has rescheduled the closure of a portion of Interstate 64 for March 17 and 18 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge work between mile markers 89 and 93 in the Fishersville area of Augusta County. All work is weather permitting.
On the night of March 17, eastbound traffic will be diverted off I-64 at exit 91 to ramps around the bridge work zone from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
On the night of March 18, westbound traffic will be diverted off I-64 at exit 91 to ramps around the bridge work zone from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
These closures will allow crews to bring new bridge beams over I-64 as part of the reconstruction of Route 285 (Tinkling Spring Road) at exit 91 in Fishersville. The two-year project will improve safety and traffic flow along Route 285 in Augusta County.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board awarded Shirley Contracting a $21 million design-build contract in September 2012. Final completion of the project is scheduled for August 2015.
