How you can vote to name Albemarle County’s first street sweeper

Albemarle County street sweeper Albemarle County is trying to have some fun with its new street sweeper, opening a public contest to name the sweeper – Dirt Vader is one of the choices, and the best choice, from this perspective.

The county, in two months of using a rental sweeper – they’re waiting for the one they purchased to be delivered – has picked up 100 tons (emphasis: tons) of trash from roadways across the far-flung county.

Assuming that pace keeps up, that’s 600 tons a year – 1.2 million pounds of trash a year.

Anyway, you clicked here to learn more about voting in the poll for a name for the street sweeper.

You can vote here.

Voting is open through Monday, Aug. 7, at 5 p.m.

The 10 finalists:

  • Bruce Streetclean
  • Beeper The Sweeper
  • The Clean Machine
  • Lightning McClean
  • Sweeping Beauty
  • Lil Bo Sweep
  • Sweepzilla
  • Dirt Vader
  • Emily Broomtë
  • Sergeant Sweeper
