Henrico County: Bicyclist injured after being struck by tractor trailer on I-95

A bicyclist attempting to cross Interstate 95 southbound this afternoon was struck by a tractor trailer, and the individual received serious injuries from the crash.

The tractor trailer driver involved in the accident did not stop, according to Virginia State Police.

The hit-and-run crash occurred at 4:05 p.m. Monday near the 82 mile marker in Henrico County.

Witnesses reported the suspect vehicle as a red bobtail tractor with a flatbed that braked abruptly before striking the bicyclist and fleeing the scene. The vehicle is expected to have damage to the left side.

The adult male bicyclist was transported to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
