One person is dead and two were injured after a stabbing last night outside the Hampton Coliseum where Phish was performing inside, the first of three nights of concerts for the group.

The victim has not been identified.

Police were called to the coliseum at approximately 9:30 p.m. Officers located two adult male victims suffering from laceration injuries; both were transported to a local hospital, where one later died. A third adult male victim walked into a local hospital with a non-life-threatening laceration.

The suspect in the incident fled the scene on foot, according to police. However, officers in the area were able to locate and detain a possible suspect. No name has been released.

Photos from outside the coliseum showed police putting up crime tape around an area with white pop-up tents outside the arena.

The initial investigation revealed that a verbal argument had taken place among several individuals that escalated into a physical altercation.

Members from the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and provided medical assistance.

Phish has not made any public comments on social media regarding the incident or announced any changes to its schedule for the next two nights in Hampton. Phish was on stage from approximately 8 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Most concertgoers were not aware of this incident until after the show was over.

The venue holds up to 13,800 people for concerts.

If you or anyone you know has information that could assist police in the investigation, call the HPD at (757) 727-6111 or the crime line at (888) LOCK-U-UP.
