Former CNN personality Don Lemon arrested: Trumpers making a martyr of the wrong guy

We’re all reacting appropriately, with equal parts disgust and horror, to the arrests of former CNN personality Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, an independent journalist, related to their coverage of the protest at a Minnesota church whose pastor is also an ICE thug.

What’s really going on here: major eff up by the Trump regime.

The Trump DOJ was able to convince a grand jury to come back with indictments, but it’s not even a guarantee that this will go to trial – and it’s a certainty that they wouldn’t be able to empanel a jury that would return unanimous verdicts of guilt in the case.

Which they know; they’re just trying to chill the press, using Lemon, in particular, a frequent Trump critic, as the example of what can happen if those of us ink-stained wretches insist on continuing to do our jobs.

The misread here: they’re making Don Lemon into another Face of the Resistance, and for his faults, Don Lemon is a skilled communicator, and you don’t put someone with his skill set onto that kind of pedestal.

Thing is, the Trumpers obviously aren’t yet aware of the limits to their power.

Trump and his lead stooge, Stephen Miller, seem to think that pretending to draw down the DHS invasion of Minneapolis will turn public opinion back to their side.

Bad miscalculation.

We still saw what we saw, in the videos of the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by their ICE thugs.

And we still heard what we heard, in the statements from Trump, from Miller, from Kristi Noem, labeling Good a “domestic terrorist,” claiming that Pretti, guilty only of holding a phone in his right hand, “wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.”

And now we have the regime trying to lock up journalists – and, it isn’t a coincidence, that both Lemon and Fort are Black.

Par for the course there: the roving ICE invasions of blue cities in blue states have been targeting brown-skinned people.

Good and Pretti, both White, just collateral damage, from the view of the Trump inner circle.

Again, bad take there from the Trumpers, just viewing Good and Pretti as dead, and thinking that the world won’t see the arrests of two Black journalists for what they are.

Good and Pretti are martyrs because of Trump’s jackboots; Lemon, and let’s put Georgia Fort here, too, because, from looking at her resume, she knows what she’s doing, the Trumpers into living martyrs.

As if we need additional rallying points, right?
