Fishburne Military School, Waynesboro Generals partnering on special Community Night at the ballpark on Thursday

FMS newFishburne Military School is using its sponsored Game Night with the Waynesboro Generals to invite youth from the community to come out to the ballpark for a great night of baseball action.

The Thursday, June 25 game is against the Woodstock River Bandits at 7 p.m. at Linco Park at Kate Collins Field in Waynesboro.

Fishburne Military School and the Waynesboro Generals donated more than 200 general-admission tickets to local agencies including the Waynesboro Family YMCA, Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton & Augusta County, the Salvation Army and the Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth.

“Our cadets had such a great time at our Game Night last summer that we wanted to extend this invitation to the wider community, and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to share this experience with children and families in our community,” said Col. Gary Morrison, the superintendent at Fishburne Military School, a military boarding school for boys with an enrollment of 200 students in grades 7-12 located in Waynesboro.

The Waynesboro YMCA is “excited” about the chance to invite children to attend free of charge, said Jeff Fife, the executive director of the Waynesboro YMCA.

“We appreciate them reaching to our youth and families for a great night of baseball,” Fife said. “Our kids are excited to be able to attend the game especially since the entire team helped with our kick off to the summer
childcare camp season.  The Generals and Fishburne Military School are natural partners because they both build excellent young men and great character.”

The Generals are pleased to partner with Fishburne to deliver the tickets to the community agencies and ensure a night at the ballpark that will create memories for all ages.

“The Waynesboro YMCA and Fishburne Military School are important foundational members of not only our Generals team, but the entire community of Waynesboro,” said David Gauldin III, the director of operations for the Waynesboro Generals. “We couldn’t do what we do both during the baseball season in the summer and year-round without the support of organizations like Fishburne and the YMCA. We look forward to the energy that they will bring to the ballpark on Thursday and the rest of the season.”
