Cohen joins Augusta Health Internal Medicine

Chris Graham

Alan Cohen, MD, PhD, a board-certified internal medicine physician, has opened his practice at Augusta Health Internal Medicine in Waynesboro. He joins Kimberly Cheek, MD. Dr. Cohen will see patients on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 am until 3:45 pm.

“My focus is on adult health,” says Dr. Cohen. “I view every individual as having the potential to enjoy life through a healthy lifestyle, and help patients follow the guidelines to maximize their well-being and manage disease. I stay current in the rapidly advancing medical knowledge base, but I make sure that if I can’t handle the problem, my patient gets to someone who can.”

After graduating from the University of Illinois, Dr. Cohen attended graduate school at the University of Virginia and received his PhD in Biology. He taught and did research at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, then went to medical school at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. His internship and residency were also completed through Washington University. For many years, he practiced internal medicine in Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Cohen is the father of four children and the grandfather of three. He and his wife are looking forward to life in the Shenandoah Valley—hiking the trails, raising mushrooms and watching the sun come up over the mountains.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Cohen, please call Augusta Health Internal Medicine in Waynesboro at 540.941.7899 or 540.213.7899. The office address is 2522 Jefferson Highway in Waynesboro.
