Charlottesville: Armed man wanted by police in Hardy Drive shooting

The Charlottesville Police Department has obtained warrants for Nayquon Laymonte Steppe related to a shooting in September.

According to the CPD, the shooting occurred on Sept. 12 in the 800 block of Hardy Drive. A residence and a vehicle were struck by gunfire during the incident.

Steppe is a 25-year-old Black male, approximately 5’7″ in height, weighing 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Steppe has been charged with the following offenses:

  • 18.2-51.2-Attempted malicious wounding
  • 18.2-56 – Reckless handling of firearm
  • 18.2-137 – Destruction of property

Steppe should be considered armed, according to the CPD.
