A Waynesboro nursing home has “taken care of the deficiencies” that had led to sanctions from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services earlier this summer, a Virginia Department of Health official told The Augusta Free Press this week.
Chris Durrer, the director of the Office of Licensure and Certification in the VDH, said Avante at Waynesboro was considered back in compliance with the federal regulations on Aug. 14.
The home was given an out-of-compliance designation on July 10 after inspections of the Rosser Avenue facility in April and June found several unidentified deficiencies.
Avante had not been permitted to receive reimbursements for any new Medicare and Medicaid patients during the July 10-Aug. 14 period.
Durrer said Avante is once again allowed to receive reimbursements for new Medicare and Medicaid patients.
According to ratings of area nursing homes and assisted-living facilities on Medicare.gov, Avante’s overall rating is two stars on a five-star scale. Two other area facilities have lower ratings – Envoy of Staunton and Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehab, both of which have one-star ratings on the scale.
An attempt to reach Avante at Waynesboro for comment on this story was not successful.
