Reports of an armed suicidal man at Blue Ridge Community College Tuesday afternoon turned out to be unfounded, according to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation found that the call reporting the individual in crisis at the college originated from California.

The call about a male with a loaded firearm came in at 4:10 p.m. Deputies responded approximately 15 minutes later.

After a thorough canvass of the campus, no threats were identified.

The matter has been transferred to the Los Angeles Police Department.
