Allen, Radtke release campaign money numbers

Today, George Allen for U.S. Senate announced the second straight million-dollar fundraising quarter, raising over $1.1 million – 82 percent of which came from Virginia donors, according to the campaign..

To date, the Allen campaign has raised $2.6 million from well over 5,000 donors.

“Susan and I appreciate so many people for their generosity and caring support for our campaign to bring Virginian voices and values to Washington. We are truly grateful for the advice and encouragement we continue to receive from people throughout the Commonwealth. Washington liberals seem to think the economy is on the right track, but that ignores the realities of what hard working men and women are facing every day. I look forward to working with Virginians to reinvigorate our economy with pro-growth policies that will help create jobs, unleash our energy resources and restore the promise of the American dream. Together, we will continue to build a strong grassroots team that is motivated for positive solutions and reforms to turn our country in the right direction,” Allen said.

The campaign of Republican Senate nomination rival Jamie Radtke also released its fundraising numbers for the second quarter today. The Radtke for Senate campaign raised $92,153.43 in the months of April, May and June. This represents a significant increase in receipts from Q1 2011, and brings the total raised to nearly $250,000 for the campaign.

According to the Radtke campaign, all of Radtke’s contributions come from individuals; none of the funds are from PACs, special interest groups or personal loans from the candidate.

“We are pleased with the direction our fundraising efforts are going, and we are confident we will continue to see momentum throughout the rest of the year,” said campaign manager Dave Johnson. “Like the ultimately successful grassroots Tea Party campaigns of 2008, we never expected to compete this early with the candidates of the Washington establishment. George Allen and Tim Kaine are clearly the establishment candidates in this election.”

Johnson noted that the campaign had been engaged primarily in “organic” fundraising efforts through mid-May, until it contracted with the firm of Concentric Direct and brought on an experienced finance director. As a result, June was the most successful fundraising month the campaign has had in 2011.

“As Jamie Radtke’s message of sending a new generation of courageous, conservative leadership spreads across the Commonwealth, our fundraising will continue to grow,” Johnson said.
