That’s what a gallon of regular unleaded is running people in Virginia today, and the projections have it getting worse before it gets better.
“Motorists are experiencing sticker shock at the pump with gas prices at seven-month highs,” said Martha M. Meade, manger of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “The upward swing in oil prices, coupled with the unofficial kickoff of the summer driving season on Memorial Day has trickled down to retail gas prices. If current market conditions continue, we could eventually see gasoline prices reach $2.75 a gallon.”
The average nationwide is $2.61 a gallon for regular unleaded as of the end of the business day on Monday.
