Holmes signs contract with British team

Contributors

Former VMI basketball standout Chavis Holmes ’09 has signed with the Surrey Heat, a team in the British Basketball League (BBL).

At VMI, Holmes was part of a dynamic scoring trio, joining brother Travis and, earlier in his career, current NBA player Reggie Williams to form the core of a high-flying VMI offense.

Chavis Holmes was a First Team All-Big South honoree in 2008-09, when he led the nation in steals and became part of the NCAA’s all-time leading twin scorers (with Travis). During his career at VMI, he also led the Big South in three-pointers made (2006-07) and finished his career fourth on VMI’s all-time scoring list.

Since leaving VMI, Chavis Holmes has played for Hermosilio (CIBACOPA) in Mexico, Clavijo in Spain and Haukar in Iceland.
