gens-braves3Waynesboro scored seven runs in the seventh, all with two out, to take down the visiting Staunton Braves, 10-5, on Wednesday night at Linco Park at Kate Collins Field.

The Braves had left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, up 5-3. The Generals had two on with two out in the bottom of the seventh when things turned in their direction.

Stephen Pitarra was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Imani Willis walked on four pitches from reliever Aaron Eppard to force in a run and cut the deficit to 5-4.

Clayton Taylor walked on a 3-2 pitch to force in another run that tied the game at 5-5.

Damon Frazier relieved for Eppard, and was greeted by a two-run single from Chris Cook that gave Waynesboro its first lead of the night at 7-5.

A Kevin Phillips RBI single made it 8-5, and a Jonathan Camp two-run double pushed the margin to 10-5 Generals.

Frankie Romano closed out the game with 1-2-3 innings in the eighth and ninth.

Aubrey McCarty (1-0, 2.45 ERA) got the win in relief, giving up a run on two hits in two innings of work, striking out three and walking three.

Eppard (1-1, 10.12 ERA) took the loss for Staunton, giving up three runs without recording an out in the seventh.

Cook, in his second game with Waynesboro, was 3-for-5 at the plate to pace the Generals’ 14-hit attack.
