JD Vance defines socialism: Work visas for all, boys playing girls’ sports

The MAGAs running our country like to blame the rise of socialism for whatever is actually being done wrong by the Trump administration.

High gas prices? Socialism.

Inflation? Obviously, socialism.

A tropical storm threatening the Southeast on Saturday?

Socialists don’t care about the Alabama-Georgia game.

A reporter at a JD Vance press conference on Thursday – in which the veep hyped how the administration is cracking down on work visas, and suspending tech giants Microsoft and Adobe from sponsoring H-1B visa workers for green cards – pressed the supposed Ivy League grad on the issue of socialism today, asking him directly:

“How do you define socialism, personally?”

Here’s the answer from our Ivy Leaguer:

Oh man, you know, I guess it’s, honestly, it’s a hard term to define these days, because very often, socialism, you know, classically, you would think socialism is about prioritizing workers, and yet in reality, I guarantee that most of the self-described socialists running across the United States of America are going to howl about this announcement today, which is prioritizing American workers over foreign workers. So, I don’t know what the term means anymore.

I think in reality, what it actually means in the American context is that you want to replace American workers with foreign workers, and you want boys to play in girls’ sports. That’s what unites the socialists that I see running across the United States of America today.

There you have it, folks.

The ideas of Karl Marx injected into the public discourse in the mid-19th century proposing that the means of production should be collectively owned are now reduced to the notions of replacing American workers with foreign workers and boys playing girls’ sports.

These people’s heads are full of mush.

Annie Dillard was a real one: One of the greatest writers of her generation

I’m not entirely convinced that Annie Dillard actually existed in this world. I mean, she had to, in some sense, because she wrote books, great books that you could hold in your hand and read and go wow, I wish I could write like that.
