hbg turksJunior right-hander Steven Ridings (Messiah College) struck out 11, scattered seven hits and walked none to lead Charles Town to a 3-2 win against host Harrisonburg in Valley League baseball Sunday evening.

The Cannons upped their record to 7-10 while snapping Harrisonburg’s six-game win streak, leaving the Turks 12-6.

Senior first baseman Austin Bream (Liberty) launched a pair of doubles and scored twice for the Cannons.  Senior center fielder Hugo Rodriquez (West Virginia Tech) drove in Bream on both occasions, with an RBI single in the second inning and when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth, the latter proved to be the decisive run.

Harrisonburg junior center fielder Shane Billings (Wingate) hit an in-the-park home run, and senior third baseman Tyler Straub (Texas San Antonio) collected a pair of singles.

The Turks play at Woodstock on Monday, June 29, in a game rescheduled from June 17.  Harrisonburg hosts Covington on Tuesday, June 30, and New Market on Wednesday, July 1, both at 7:30 p.m.
