Lightning strike causes residential structure fire in Albemarle County

A home on the 1000 block of East Keswick Drive in Albemarle County caught fire on Friday after being struck by lightning.

Albemarle County Fire Rescue reports that one adult, one juvenile, and their two dogs safely evacuated from the home.

The fire was reported at 6:04 p.m. Friday, during a frightening storm that triggered tornado warnings in Albemarle County.

The displaced residents are being assisted by family and friends. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
