#2 UVA basketball: And there’s room for improvement for Cavs?

cavalanche1UVA has hit a new high in the post-Ralph Sampson years with the #2 rankings in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls this week. But is there actually room for improvement for the Cavs?

UVA Sports Today host Jeff Fife and Augusta Free Press editor Chris Graham break down the week in UVA basketball, looking back at wins over N.C. State and #12 Notre Dame. The review includes a look at Darion Atkins, who stepped up big in the 62-56 win at Notre Dame, and Isaiah Wilkins, a freshman who played key minutes down the stretch in South Bend, and the shutdown defense put in by Malcolm Brogdon on Notre Dame’s Jerian Grant and N.C. State’s Ralston Turner.

The guys then take us through the next two weeks of UVA basketball. Nobody likes the idea of trap games, but the schedule is full of them in advance of the Jan. 31 showdown in Charlottesville with #4 Duke. What are the upset potentials of Clemson, Boston College, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech?

All of that and more on this week’s UVA Sports Today.
