Several family members arrested in Waynesboro thefts

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested several members of the same family after they were involved in a slew of thefts in the city recently.

Claude Lloyd Tinsley II, 46 years old; his son Dillan Austin Tinsley, 18 years old; two juvenile twin sons and the elder Tinsley’s girlfriend, Yvonne Michelle Cason, 40 years old, all face larceny charges stemming from nearly a dozen vehicle burglaries that occurred in residential areas in the northern part of the city.

In the morning of September 20, officers responded to numerous residences near North Park for reports of property missing from vehicles.  Victims reported property such as, car batteries, sunglasses, DVDs, shoes and lounge chairs being stolen sometime overnight.  As officers investigated the thefts, Claude Tinsley was spotted carrying car batteries near the area of the thefts.  Officers detained him and verified one of the batteries belonging to one of the recent victims.   Officers also searched the Tinsley campsite and found additional property stolen just reported stolen.  However, much of the stolen property was not recovered.

Charges stemming from this set of larcenies are as follows:

  • Claude Tinsley – two counts of petit larceny & one count of entering a vehicle with intent to commit a crime (all misdemeanors)
  • Yvonne Cason – one count of petit larceny/3rd offense (felony) and one count of obstruction of justice (misdemeanor)

At 11:10 p.m. on September 22, officers responded to the 1500 block of Madison Street for a report of several individuals stealing property from vehicles.  Officers found and arrested Dillan Austin Tinsley and two of his 15 year old brothers with the stolen property.  All three face one count of petit larceny and one count of entering a vehicle with intent to commit a crime (misdemeanors).

Child Protective Services is also involved.

Yvonne Cason is being held on bond at Middle River Regional Jail.  Dillan & Claude Tinsley are free on bond.  The juveniles are at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
