Virginia is a 20.5-point favorite heading into its Week 4 matchup with Delaware, which is 2-1 at this point in the 2026 season, with an FCS win, a come-from-ahead loss at Vanderbilt, and a win over Coastal Carolina.
The over/under is 52.5, which suggests Vegas thinks this one will play in the area code of 38-17.
I see a lower final score for both sides, and what will feel like a tighter game than what the oddsmakers seem to think we’re going to get.
What do I know?

First quarter
Update: 6:15 p.m. Nice first drive, with a third-down conversion and a fourth-down conversion.
Beau Pribula checked the play call at the line on the fourth-and-3 at the Delaware 40, and connected with Da’Shawn Martin for four yards and the first down.
Martin caught the TD pass on another check at the line – 11 yards on a slant on a second-and-6.
Pribula did get sacked twice.
Drive: 13 plays, 75 yards, 7:26
Virginia 7, Delaware 0, 7:34/1st
Update: 6:30 p.m. Will Bettridge missed another kick inside of 40, this one a 38-yarder.
Virginia had the ball at the Delaware 11; Noah Josey was flagged for a dead-ball unsportsmanlike conduct to make a second-and-11 into second-and-26.
On third-and-19, Beau Pribula checked into an option run that went for three yards.
It’s hard to believe that the fifth-year kicker can’t be relied upon to make kicks inside of 40 yards.
First quarter summary
Delaware had two three-and-outs on offense, and two yards of total offense.
Virginia has a TD drive, a drive that ended in a missed field goal, and a third drive has the ball inside the 10.
Beau Pribula is 10-of-10 passing for 95 yards and a TD. Sacked twice.
Run game: 13 attempts, 52 sack-adjusted rushing yards, so, 4.0 yards/per.
Second quarter
Update: 6:42 p.m. Nice design on the 7-yard TD pass from Beau Pribula to Rico Flores Jr.
Looked like they were setting up a bubble screen to the right. Flores was one-on-one on the left side of the formation.
Easy pitch-and-catch.
Drive: 7 plays, 59 yards, 2:23
Virginia 14, Delaware 0, 14:56/2nd
Update: 6:54 p.m. Delaware put together a drive that ended with three.
Drive: 12 plays, 53 yards, 7:11
Aided by a rather obvious defensive holding penalty on a third-and-10 on Jacobie Henderson, who was nowhere near the play, and didn’t need to keep his guy from getting away from him.
Virginia 14, Delaware 3, 7:45/2nd
Update: 7:15 p.m. Nifty 52-yard catch-and-run-like-a-punt-returner TD by Kam Courtney.
Beau Pribula checked into a wide receiver screen. Da’Shawn Martin had the block on the edge to free up Courtney about five yards downfield.
Drive: 5 plays, 85 yards, 1:53
Virginia 21, Delaware 3, 3:32/2nd
Update: 7:37 p.m. Impressive two-minute drill.
Beau Pribula was 6-for-8 for 79 yards, with a 6-yard scramble.
The scoring play: third-and-10, no safeties deep, max protect, Kam Courtney one-on-one with a DB, dropped it into the box.
Drive: 9 plays, 85 yards, 1:16
Had 1:17 to work with.
Virginia 28, Delaware 3, 0:01/2nd
First half summary
Beau Pribula answered the questions: 21-of-24, 264 yards, 4 TDs
Total offense: Virginia 314, Delaware 85
I expected the D to make it tough on the Delaware offense.
The Virginia offense has done a nice job rebounding from the poor production last week.
This has been a nice bounceback for Pribula.
The last thing we needed would have been to have seen Des Kitchings run the ball into the line 50 times and call it a day.
Third quarter
Update: 8:17 p.m. Beau Pribula, hopefully on his last snap of the night, finishes the drive with a 14-yard keeper on an option play.
Drive: 9 plays, 65 yards, 5:14
Virginia 35, Delaware 3, 6:44/3rd
Fourth quarter
Update: 8:54 p.m. Eli Holstein connected with Josiah Abdullah for a 74-yard catch-and-run TD.
There aren’t many people left here, because of the driving rain.
Holstein: 8-of-12, 153 yards, 1 TD
Virginia 42, Delaware 3, 11:11/4th
Recap
That one, obviously, didn’t go the way I expected – in a good way for Virginia.
Beau Pribula was effective, to say the least, through the air: 24-of-28, 279 yards, four TDs.
The offense gained 556 yards.
I’d expected the D to do well, and it did better than just well: holding Delaware to 160 yards.
It didn’t help the Blue Hens that their fifth-year starting QB, Nick Minicucci, left with a knee injury in the second quarter, and was just 4-of-8 for 24 yards on the night.
The backup, Braden Streeter, came in facing a big deficit, needing to get the ball downfield, and wasn’t able to: 2-of-16, 9 yards.
Rico Flores Jr. had a breakout game at wideout: 9 catches on 10 targets for 113 yards and a TD.
Also a big night for Kam Courtney: four catches on four targets, 89 yards, two TDs.
