The Hospice of the Piedmont has submitted a letter of intent to begin discussions with Hospice of the Rapidan regarding a mutually beneficial collaborative merger of the two nonprofit organizations.
Over the next three months, both organizations will focus on the development of a structure for the new entity. “We are confident that this partnership will build upon the strengths and great legacies of both organizations allowing us to better face the challenges all healthcare companies will be experiencing in the years to come.” said Dr. James Avery, CEO of Hospice of the Piedmont.
The new partnership will enhance, improve and strengthen the delivery of hospice care in Central Virginia by leveraging healthcare relationships, community support and clinical care expertise. In addition, the high-quality skilled compassionate care that patients and families have come to know and trust for over 30 years will be available to a broader number of patients and their families.
Both Hospice of the Piedmont and Hospice of the Rapidan look forward to launching and establishing the integrated organization in October 2014. It is proposed that the new entity be headquartered in Charlottesville, VA, with a permanent satellite office in Culpeper, VA. The new organization will continue to provide cutting-edge hospice care to all of the neighborhoods, cities, and counties currently served: Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, Rappahannock, Augusta, Nelson, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Louisa, Green, Albemarle, and the city of Charlottesville.
