Despite social media reports of a shooter, Daikin in Verona did not have an active threat at the plant, according to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

The plant was placed on lockdown by management this morning after an employee allegedly made threats toward the facility.

ACSO responded to 207 Laurel Hill Road this morning at 9:04 a.m. The initial reports were that an employee “made concerning statements” to another employee.

The lockdown was initiated “out of an abundance of caution.”

“Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was no direct threat made towards the company or any employee at Daikin,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

The reports about an active shooter incident “was simply not true.”

“There was never an active shooter nor an active threat at the plant,” Sheriff Donald Smith said in a statement.
