A Harrisonburg man has been arrested for the alleged rape of a child under 13 years of age.

Yefesi Bahinduka, 35, is currently being held without bond at the Rockingham Harrisonburg Regional Jail.

The charges stem from a disorderly conduct call that the Harrisonburg Police Department received on Monday night. Officers responded to a home on Devon Lane at approximately 9 p.m.

During their preliminary investigation, officers learned that a sexual offense involving a juvenile possibly occurred recently. Due to the nature of the allegation, the HPD’s major crimes until responded and took over the investigation.

Officers located both parties on scene, and detectives conducted interviews as part of the investigation.

Bahinduka was arrested and charged with:

  • Va. Code § 18.2-61 — Rape: sexual intercourse with a child under 13 years of age
