The details are very sparse, but we can confirm that a male subject has been confirmed dead in an officer-involved shooting at the Staunton Walmart on Tuesday.
The shooting was reported at 7:15 p.m., per a release from the Staunton Police Department.
The PD is asking that the public avoid the area at this time.
The investigation will be turned over to the Virginia State Police, per protocols.
Update: Wednesday, 11:25 a.m. We just reached out to Staunton Police and Virginia State Police, and the word on why we’re not getting any information on last night’s shooting is, authorities are working on making next of kin notifications.
“The adult male is from out of state, so it’s taking a bit longer than usual,” was what we were told.
