Extravaganza race/walk to benefit Augusta Health Cancer Center patients

Chris Graham

Proceeds from the Waynesboro Extravaganza’s 10K and 5K Race/Walk, to be held July 7 at 8 am in Ridgeview Park at the Serenity Garden, will benefit the Augusta Health Cancer Center’s Bridge Fund.  The Bridge Fund supports local cancer patients by paying for items not covered by health insurance—such as nutrition supplements, prescription co-pays and even gas cards to help fund transportation to treatments.

“Dealing with cancer and its treatment creates enough anxiety and stress for patients and their families.  The Bridge Fund is a way we can help relieve the anxiety and stress that’s related to all those other factors,” say Brad Johnson, Director of the Augusta Health Cancer Center.  “We truly appreciate the donations to the Fund that are raised by this race, and are thankful for the efforts of the Waynesboro Parks and Recreation staff that make the event a success.”

Information on the race and registration forms are located on the Waynesboro Parks and Recreation website, www.waynesboro.va.us/pr-extravaganza-race.php.

The department can be reached at 540.942.6735 or [email protected].
