A social media threat targeting Wilson Memorial High School is under investigation, according to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

The threat was posted earlier this evening, according to the ACSO.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is in contact with the Augusta County Public Schools central office and Wilson Memorial High School administration.

“The Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to investigate the origin of this threat,” said Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith in a news release.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The investigation is ongoing.

Harrisonburg High School and Rocktown High School were both closed Monday due to an alleged threat made on SnapChat. Both schools will re-open on Tuesday with a dedicated safety plan, according to school officials.
