The Waynesboro School Board, which had said back in the summer that it hoped to have a new superintendent hired by the end of the month of October, needs more time.
Per a public notice issued today, the board is going to meet on Thursday to approve a resolution to extend the superintendent search through Nov. 21.
The current superintendent, Jeffrey Cassell, announced earlier this year that he intends to retire effective Dec. 31.
Cassell has served as superintendent since 2013.
It’s getting mighty tight, in terms of the board’s self-imposed timeline to have someone ready to take the reins when the world comes back from the holiday break after the first of the year.
It’s almost like this is all cover to justify doing what we’ve been saying they’ve been planning to do all along – namely, hire from within.
