Update: Lanes reopened after multi-vehicle accident closes Interstate 81 northbound in Woodstock area

i81-headerA multi-vehicle crash has closed all Interstate 81 northbound lanes near mile marker 283 in the Woodstock area of Shenandoah County.  Traffic is leaving the interstate at exit 283 traveling across Route 42 and re-entering I-81 using the exit 283 northbound on-ramp.

Motorists should expect significant delays in this area. There is no estimated reopening time from the Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operations Center.

The crash happened around 4:50 p.m.  Five vehicles are reported in this crash.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.

 

Update: 7:45 p.m. All northbound lanes have reopened on Interstate 81 northbound lanes near mile marker 283 in the Woodstock area of Shenandoah County

Earlier this afternoon a multi-vehicle crash closed all I-81 northbound lanes in this location.

Motorists should continue to expect significant delays in this area as traffic clears. . The Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operations Center is reporting over a seven mile back-up.

The crash happened around 4:50 p.m.  Five vehicles are reported in this crash.
