Stop the Presses | If health-care reform were up to me …
One caveat: It has to fit in today’s political reality. Otherwise, this is a one-word (hyphenated) column: single-payer.
Even then, though, what I’ve been mulling over the past several weeks would fit into the single-payer model that I envision being politically palatable maybe around 2035. Read more

Some, ahem, Bold Predictions
I called a couple of things right last year – that the UVa. basketball team would lose 20 games and cost Dave Leitao his job (they lost 18, and Leitao is gone), and that UVa. would for financial reasons regret retaining Al Groh as its head football coach (and now they’re practically begging people to buy tickets, and not finding any takers). According to the American Stroke Association, some survivors experience apathy and don’t seem to care about anything. “People often mistake this for depression because survivors are content to sit and stare at the wall all day.” “The best response is to get them active and moving. Give them a choice of what to do or where to go, but make it clear they have to choose to do something, they can’t just lie in bed.” Read more
