Business, and personal

Yeah, we’re jumping the shark alright. “I haven’t agreed with Chris on much lately, so we’ll just add this one to the list,” wrote Cliff Garstang, the vice chairman of the Augusta County Democratic Committee and a member of the Sixth District Democratic Committee, in a comment posted on Cobalt6, a local Democrat blog that he runs with a former local radio deejay named Eddie Garcia who I got to know well a couple of years ago when I featured him in a story in our New Dominion Magazine. Why I’m with Terry

You want to know where Terry McAuliffe had me? You could say at hello.

McDonnell leads in new poll, but …

Bob McDonnell leads his three potential Democratic Party rivals in the 2009 governor’s race in a new Rasmussen Reports poll, but a look inside the numbers shows reason for concern for the Republican candidate once the dust from the June 9 Democratic primary has settled.
Pollster Scott Rasmussen indicated that each of the three Democratic candidates – Creigh Deeds, Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran – is attracting a relatively low level of support from within their own party in the polls, an indication that supporters of one or the other candidates are not willing to admit to pollsters that they will vote for the eventual nominee if their candidate is not ultimately selected. Letter to the Editor | Annie Morris

As a current college student who will be entering the job market within the next few years, my lifestyle has been tremendously affected by the current economic recession. We as Virginians have a duty to help those entering the work force and others stuck in right-to-work states — we have finally been provided with the tools to accomplish this. Today’s labor laws don’t do enough to protect workers. Read more

Now, legalization advocates have extended the argument to include cocaine and heroin, drugs that are much more often the target of rehabilitation stays.  Read more
