The Virginia DMV now offers Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay at all 75 customer service centers and at any DMV 2 Go mobile office.
This new method of payment now allows customers who have payment applications installed on their smartphones to quickly tap and pay for DMV transactions.
Customers can also use any device with mobile pay capabilities, such as a smartwatch or tablet.
While not currently available through DMV Connect, the agency’s “office in a suitcase,” DMV is working toward mobile pay with those services.
DMV is continually modernizing its service options to better assist customers. In 2018, all DMV customer-service centers were outfitted with credit card terminals to accept chip and PIN.
“Like our customers, I enjoy the ease and convenience of mobile pay at retail outlets,” said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. “Not only is this payment option secure and convenient, it also shaves seconds from transaction times, which add up in busy DMV offices.”
DMV encourages customers to first check online services before heading to a physical location, to save both time and money.
