UVA Wrestling: Krivus earns at-large bid to NCAA Wrestling Championships

uva wrestlingRedshirt junior Sam Krivus (Greensburg, Pa.) earned an at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Championships Wrestling Championships, the NCAA selection committee announced with the release of the at-large selections on Tuesday (March 12).

The 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships run March 21-23 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Krivus, who is one of the at-large selections at 141 pounds, becomes the fifth Virginia wrestler to earn a bid to the event this season. He joins redshirt sophomore Jay Aiello (Chantilly, Va.), redshirt freshman Cam Coy (Jeannette, Pa.), junior Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas) and redshirt senior Will Schany (Blair, Neb.) in earning bids to compete for an NCAA Championship this year.

It is the third consecutive season for Krivus to advance to the NCAA Championships. In his first two NCAA Championship appearances, he wrestled at 149 pounds.

Krivus posted a 16-10 record on the season that included a 10-6 mark in dual matches and a seventh-place finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. His 16 wins this season included victories over then sixth-ranked C.J. Red of Nebraska, then ninth-ranked Nicholas Gil of Navy. He also wrestled 14 of his 26 matches against wrestlers listed in the latest RPI released by the NCAA.
