#12 UVa. baseball takes series from Clemson

The No. 12 Virginia baseball team pounded out 15 hits and received a strong start from Nick Howard (So., Olney, Md.) in an 8-5 victory at Clemson Sunday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C. The Cavaliers (17-2, 4-2 ACC) earned their second straight series win of 2013 and recorded their fifth straight series victory against Clemson (11-7, 3-3), dating to 2006.

#9 UVa. men’s lacrosse loses to #12 Ohio State, 11-10

Nick O’Reilly had four goals and one assist, but it wasn’t enough as the No. 9 Virginia Cavaliers (5-3) dropped a Saturday afternoon meeting with the No. 12 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1) inside Klöckner Stadium, 11-10. UVa’s three losses this season are by a combined three goals and each opponents’ game-winning goal has all come in either overtime, or in the final 1:31 of regulation.

Mike Papi (So., Tunkhannock, Pa.) hit a pinch-hit, game-tying single in the ninth inning and the go-ahead solo home run in the 11th as the No. 12 Virginia baseball team rallied to top Clemson, 6-5, Friday evening at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C. Virginia (16-1, 3-1 ACC) trailed 5-2 with one out in the ninth inning before staging a comeback to force extra innings.

McDonnell announces 60 new jobs in Augusta County

Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced that Shamrock Farms, one of the largest family-owned-and-operated dairies in the U.S., will build a $50 million dairy manufacturing facility in Augusta County. The project will create 60 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed against Maryland and West Virginia for the project.
