Richmond Flying Squirrels drop series finale at Altoona

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (17-18) let one slip through their fingertips, dropping the finale of a four-game set, 2-1, to the Altoona Curve on Sunday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Curve plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning courtesy of a walk and a defensive error. Altoona also grabbed the series, taking three-of-four from the Squirrels as Richmond’s road record dropped to 5-12.

Richmond Flying Squirrels drop series opener to Altoona

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (16-16) were done in by three defensive errors and five unearned runs as they fell to the Altoona Curve, 9-8, in a wild series opener in front of 2,250 at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Thursday night. The game featured seven lead changes, 17 total runs and 27 total hits. The three errors charged to the Squirrels were the difference, and the only miscues for either team.

Richmond Flying Squirrels take series from Trenton

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (15-15) rolled behind their ace right-hander Justin Fitzgerald to a, 5-1, victory over the Trenton Thunder (16-14) in front of 6,105 on Paul Keyes day at The Diamond on Sunday afternoon. The win netted the Squirrels the three-game series as they improved to 11-6 at home on the year. The Squirrels wore black and gold jerseys to honor the memory of Keyes, the legendary head coach of VCU baseball.
