Richmond Flying Squirrels drop pitchers’ duel

The Harrisburg Senators (34-31) quieted the Richmond Flying Squirrels (34-29) offense for the second straight night, and claimed a, 2-1, victory on Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park. The Squirrels have managed just one run in the series (18 innings), and have lost three in a row. Harrisburg also laid claim to the series with the win.

Harrisburg nips Richmond Flying Squirrels, 1-0

Eastern League ERA leader Jack Snodgrass turned in eight more sensational innings, but it wasn’t enough as the Harrisburg Senators (33-31) blanked the Richmond Flying Squirrels (34-28), 1-0, on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park. Snodgrass (5-2) was credited with the first complete game of the season for the Squirrels, but was also saddled with his second loss.

Richmond Flying Squirrels take two from Trenton

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (34-26) clubbed five home runs and swept a doubleheader from the Trenton Thunder (32-30) on Saturday night at ARM & HAMMER Park. Richmond took game one, 3-2, and game two, 7-3. With the victories, the Squirrels also claim the three-game series and vault into first place in the Western Division by a game and a half.

Richmond Flying Squirrels blank Erie, 2-0

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (29-24) blanked the Erie SeaWolves (31-22), 2-0, in front of a capacity crowd of 9,560 at The Diamond on Friday night to give legendary skipper Dave Machemer his 1,600th win as a manager. The milestone comes as Mac’s Squirrels have claimed six of their last seven ballgames and sit just two games behind the SeaWolves for the Western Division lead.
