Augusta Health and University of Virginia Health System have announced a new service, Augusta Health Thoracic Surgery. Thoracic surgeons perform surgery in the chest—such as on the lungs, the esophagus and the chest wall—but do not perform open heart surgery.
House votes to address potential ObamaCare security breaches

A bipartisan House majority voted Friday to pass legislation to require people to be notified of security breaches under ObamaCare. The bill, styled the Health Exchange Security and Transparency Act of 2014, passed by a 291-122 vote, with 67 Democrats joining the majority.

McAuliffe announces administration appointments

Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe announced additional appointments to his administration today, including the appointment of Carlos Hopkins as Counsel to the Governor and additional appointments to the Governor’s Office and Cabinet. The appointees will join McAuliffe’s administration focused on finding common ground with members of both parties on issues that will grow Virginia’s economy and create more jobs across the Commonwealth.
