Eight straight 10-win seasons, and 11 of 13. Seems like forever ago at Virginia Tech now, doesn’t it? And yet it was just two years ago when the Hokies were 11-1 and looking ahead to an ACC Championship Game rematch with Clemson. Since that point, Tech is just 14-12, and a key reason why is the running game.

Top-Seeded UVa. women’s soccer defeats Saint Francis 5-0 in NCAA tourney

The top-seeded UVa. women’s soccer team opened play in the 2013 NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) Friday night in front of 1,611 fans at Klöckner Stadium. Sophomore forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Cavaliers (21-1) into the second round.

ACLU: New Department of Taxation policy discriminates against LGBT Virginians

A Virginia Department of Taxation bulletin concerning treatment of legally married same-sex couples under Virginia’s tax laws is coming under fire from the ACLU of Virginia. According to the bulletin, the marital status of a couple for Virginia income tax purposes is based on whether the couple is considered married for federal income tax purposes.
