Central Shenandoah EMS Council is now accepting nominations for its 2013 Regional EMS Awards program. This regional program consists of 11 state level EMS awards and two local awards. The regional recognition program honors the exceptional contributions of EMS providers in the Central Shenandoah Valley make to their communities.
William Sheppard is topic for February history lecture

“William Sheppard:A Hero of Waynesboro” will be the February history lecture at WTA’s Gateway. Greg Bruno looks at the impact Sheppard, an African-American Waynesboro native, had in exposing the devastating role King Leopold II of Belgium played in the Congo Free State. The lecture is at 7pm on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.

David Wingfield and Friends will appear at the WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, February 23. Since their January show as canceled because of weather, the February cover charge will be $5 instead of the usual $10.
Dan Heims to speak at Shenandoah Valley Plant Symposium

Terra Nova Nurseries’ resident plant guru and past guest on “The Martha Stewart Show,” Dan Heims, will be speaking at the Shenandoah Valley Plant Symposium, March 27, 2013 at the Best Western Inn & Conference Center in Waynesboro, Va. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT, including morning and afternoon sessions with a catered lunch in between. Heims is one among four guest speakers scheduled for the event.
Vanpool formation meeting to be held March 9th

RideShare will host a vanpool formation meeting at the Waynesboro Public Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th. The meeting is for commuters that live in Waynesboro, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Augusta County, or Rockingham County and work in Charlottesville. During the meeting, we will discuss what is involved in forming and participating in a vanpool. The meeting is for informational purposes and does not obligate you to join a vanpool.
