Valentine Activities Dominate the Last Week at Center

Chris Graham

smheart_02The last week has found Staunton Senior Center members busy with a variety of Valentine’s Day activities.

Members began the celebration by creating Valentine garlands, a simple craft using cut out card stock hearts laced together with ribbon. Two members donated their decorations to beautify the windows of the senior center. The members also constructed Valentines with suckers to give to the second graders from Grace Christian School who arrived today prepared to have fun making puppies and butterflies out of hearts with the members.

There was a flurry of coloring and cutting amongst the young and old, as well as some lively conversation!

The Christian Women’s Fellowship brought a Valentine party to the members, and the next day twenty-six members and staff joined members of the YMCA at a local church for a yummy tenderloin Valentine meal. There were eighty-one seniors in attendance all together, and all enjoyed the food and entertainment.

Anna Stell of Intrepid Health Care Services provided a program on heart health this week, and left some sweet treats for members which were bagged up and sent home with them today. The Center members appreciate all the folks who provided an assortment of Valentine activities so that they could enjoy the holiday!
