Virginia joins multi-state coalition supporting economic, environmental and health benefits of clean air

Attorney General Mark Herring announced today that Virginia will join a coalition of seventeen other states and seven major municipalities taking legal action to support the Clean Power Plan, a national pollution-reduction strategy that will combat the impact of climate change on Virginia’s economy, coastal communities, the military, agriculture and forestry industry, and the health of Virginians.

The CIA’s torture program is back in the headlines this week, as three former detainees have filed suit against the two psychologists who created and administered the CIA’s Bush-era torture program. According to the ACLU (who are pushing for Attorney General Loretta Lynch to appoint a special prosecutor in the matter), Drs. James Mitchell and John Jessen “helped convince the agency to adopt torture as official policy,” and got filthy rich in the process.
