Route 33 (Spotswood Trail), one of the only highways connecting Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley, is open to traffic. The Virginia Department of Transportation completed cleanup and stabilization of slopes on the east side of the pass across Swift Run Gap and opened the road at 6:30 p.m.

The right lane of northbound Interstate 81 is scheduled to close at 10 p.m. tonight (Friday, June 1) for bridge deck repairs at mile marker 271.5 in Shenandoah County. The location is between exit 269 (Shenandoah Caverns) and exit 273 (Mount Jackson/Basye).
