Back-to-back losses in and of themselves are enough reason to worry about Tony Bennett’s reeling UVa. basketball squad. But the way the ‘Hoos lost this week could be cause for big-time concern. What happened this week was that Virginia lost playing its preferred pace against Wisconsin at home, then lost on the road after getting lured into a more up-and-down contest.

VMI basketball tops Wright State, 94-74

The VMI Keydets put all five starters in double figures, led by QJ Peterson’s 21 points, and shot 17 of 31 from three-point range to propel their squad to a 94-74 win over the Wright State Raiders Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall. Despite the final score, the game was tightly contested early. Over the first 11:43, there were five ties and 10 lead changes.

Mathers Construction update on Valley Businesses Give Back

This week, United Rentals and Fastenal dropped off donations at the Mathers office in Waynesboro to go toward Valley Businesses Give Back.

Gov. McDonnell unveils mew Virginia is for Lovers license plate

Gov. Bob McDonnell unveiled today the new Virginia is for Lovers license plate, which will become the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) standard-issue plate beginning in March 2014. McDonnell showcased the new plate for the first time during his remarks today at the Governor’s Transportation Conference, themed “Road to the Future.”
