Virginia State Police are seeking public assistance with locating a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in Nelson County Wednesday.

The Waynesboro Police Department arrested a Nelson County man Friday evening after he stole items from Walmart and fled before officers arrived. He was later found hiding in the men’s room of a nearby restaurant.

At 1:04 a.m., Virginia State Police Trooper W.C. Fugate responded to a single-vehicle crash in Nelson County. The crash occurred Oct. 31 on Route 29 near River Road.

Virginia State Police Trooper J.A. Barbour is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Nelson County. At 11:44 a.m., on Sunday (Aug. 30), Trooper Barbour responded to the scene of the crash on Route 29 at the intersection of Callohill Drive.
