The Wayne Theatre, for too long, was used as a political football by our local pre-MAGAs, who seemed to prefer the idea of the historic theater building in the heart of Downtown Waynesboro crumbling into ruins than doing something with it.
It was about 70 years ago that Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor converged on a small town in Albemarle County to film the movie “Giant.”

We’d started with Kevin Nash and Marvin Ward against The Rock ‘n Roll Express, but when it became clear that Marvin wasn’t working himself into shape to be able to perform in-ring, we wrote him out of the match with a storyline injury at the hands of the Rock ‘n Rolls suffered at a house show a month out from the pay-per-view.
The Wayne Theatre will bring back the River City Radio Hour for one night in January to celebrate 100 years.
