Virginia 4-H and FFA officials have announced that the organizations’ youth livestock shows will return to the State Fair of Virginia in 2013.

These community leaders will be showing their support and commitment to bettering early childhood education in the Shenandoah Valley by brushing up on their ABCs and going back to the basics.

The Rockingham County Fair Association is offering for sale two log cabins. The structures have been associated with the Fair at different locations for more than three decades.

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and two of its members (or partner agencies) are competing for a total of $85,000 in grant funding through Walmart’s nationwide Fighting Hunger Together campaign. The two Food Bank members competing for the grant include Hope Distributed, a food pantry in Harrisonburg, and Campus Kitchens, a food distribution program in Lexington. All of the grant funding will support their child hunger-relief programs.

On Friday, March 22, Staunton Downtown Development Association (SDDA) and the city of Staunton were presented with Virginia Main Street Milestone Achievement Awards for the contribution of over 80,000 volunteer hours dedicated to downtown revitalization and for fostering more than 500 building improvement projects in the city’s historic commercial district.
