Timberville Broadway Senior Center and Price Rotary Senior Center were excited to host a Fire and Fall Safety presentation by their own Dottie Furrow, PRSC driver, and Erin Stehle, PRSC Local Council member, on Wednesday, May 8. Approximately 20 members plus staff benefited from the excellent presentation.

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine today highlighted more than $2.5 million that’s being made available for 24 Virginia community health centers as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Last year, the 24 eligible health centers served 283,906 Virginians.

Virginia Living’s second annual Best of Virginia issue is now on newsstands. The statewide guide to all that is ‘best’ in Virginia from dining to shopping to doing, Best of Virginia 2013 lists the more than 1,200 winners from Virginia Living’s second annual Best of Virginia Readers’ Survey conducted in January. More than 25,000 votes were cast in 400 categories covering the best in arts, culture and entertainment, living and recreation, shopping and services, and food and drink across the state.

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe officially launched his campaign today in front of a crowd of about 200 in Norfolk. McAuliffe laid out his transportation plan and vision for how the next Governor of Virginia can help strengthen and diversify the Commonwealth’s economy. Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim introduced McAuliffe.

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine made stops in the Shenandoah Valley today including a roundtable with women business leaders at James Madison University in Harrisonburg and a downtown tour of Waynesboro to learn more about growing the economy in the region.

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine joined Roanoke Mayor Dave Bowers and members of the local business community today to tour the city’s downtown and discuss economic development in the region. During the discussion, Kaine expressed his support for the Marketplace Fairness Act that will level the playing field for small businesses in Roanoke and across Virginia that are a major source of job creation.

Robin Sullenberger announced he will retire as of August 16 from the Shenandoah Valley Partnership. Mr. Sullenberger has served as CEO for the Partnership for thirteen years, taking the position in 2000.
