McDonnell’s budget to continue commitment to improving foster care adoption

Continuing his administration’s commitment to children in the foster care system and adoption efforts, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced on Friday his biennial budget will include $27.7 million in new funding for four initiatives targeted at improving foster care adoption.
Public hearing on improvements to Route 610 in Augusta County scheduled

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing concerning proposed improvements to Route 610 (Howardsville Turnpike) in Augusta County. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, 10 Manor Road, Stuarts Draft, Va. 24477.

After attracting more than 5,000 visitors last year to its site, the seventh annual Night of Miracles… A Journey to Bethlehem will run on the weekends of December 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15 in Buena Vista. VDOT: Use caution on roads in Shenandoah Valley, Central Virginia

The Virginia Department of Transportation advises drivers to use caution when traveling Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, as temperatures may fall and cause icy patches. VDOT Staunton District crews and contractors have been monitoring road conditions and applying chemicals where needed.
