VDOT: Travel not advised on Monday

VDOT crews will be monitoring and treating roadways during the night and into Monday and Tuesday. They will work 12-hour shifts, 24-hours a day with the goal of making at least one pass on all roads within 48 hours after the storm ends.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Interstate 64 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on March 10 and March 11 for bridge work between mile markers 89 and 93 in the Fishersville area of Augusta County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has closed part of Route 733 (Moffett Branch Road) in Augusta County, after an inspection this week revealed additional deterioration to the bridge over Elk Run. The location is about 0.6-mile north of Route 734 (Hupman Road) near Churchville.

During the overnight hours light snow is predicted to fall in the Valley region ranging from a dusting to a possible three inches. VDOT watch crews will be on duty during the night hours throughout the Staunton District to begin plowing and treating roads as needed once the snow begins to fall.
