Wrong-way driver dead in Interstate 64 crash at Zions Crossroads

policecar3Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving seven vehicles that occurred around 12:13 am Thursday (June 11), Interstate 64 westbound at the 136 mile marker in Louisa County.

The crash involved a 1992 Toyota traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it struck another vehicle head on. The driver of the Toyota, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. The two occupants of the other vehicle were transported to UVA Hospital with serious injuries. State Police are still in the process of notifying next of kin.

Subsequently at 1:01 a.m. a separate three-vehicle crash occurred at I-64 westbound at the 136 mile marker involving three tractor-trailers and a car. There were no injuries in this crash.
