Virginia got an NCAA Tournament bid, with an invite to the First Four to face Arizona State on Thursday in Iowa City.

Another First Four matchup has Richmond squaring up with Nebraska.

For UVA (19-11), the bid is the stitch in time that saves the job of fourth-year coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton, who was rumored to be on the hot seat after failing to make an NCAA Tournament in any of her first three seasons.

The appearance in this year’s tourney will be the first for the program since 2018, the final year of the Joanne Boyle era – her one and only NCAA bid in her seven-year tenure.

Remember how we got frustrated with the legendary Debbie Ryan because she missed the tournament in two of her last three seasons?

Yeah, this will be the second appearance since we dumped Debbie.
